Nursery Currently Closed For Winter

The Nursery is now closed for appointments and mail order until March 2024.

WE ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR OFF SITE VISITS, DESIGN AND CONSULTATION OVER WINTER.
Pond plants are mostly dormant when the cold weather starts so we stop sending plants out until new spring growth begins and it's the right time for plants to establish successfully.

Please join us in 2024 in transforming wet into wonderful.

About Tor Garden Plants

Tor Garden Plants is a water garden and nursery situated on the edge of Dartmoor and overlooked by tors and the famous Brentor church.

Formerly named Rowden Gardens, there has been a nursery on this site for the past 35 years and it is home to the Rowden Irises bred by John and Galen Carter during that time.

All the plants we sell through our online webshop are grown on site within the mature water garden, so we can guarantee they are strong, hardy and healthy plants.

We supply all of our plants bare root at the appropriate times of year and only use packaging that can be recycled as we work towards reducing our plastic usage around the nursery.

Passionate about growing strong healthy plants we also want to offer our customers the opportunity to benefit from years of horticultural experience in the extra services we offer.

For expert advice on building your pond or bespoke planting plans designed specifically for your garden please check out our consultation and design page for more information.

The Rowden Nursery Collection

We are now officially National Plant Collection holders for the 'Rowden Nursery Collection'. A collection of over 100 plants bred here at the nursery by John and Galen Carter.  As new owners we think it is important to keep the history of the nursery alive and conserve these special plants for the future and make them available to our customers.
